About the Role
The position holder is responsible for setting up, taking down and operating of all onboard broadcasting- as well as camera- and video-equipment and for carrying out any related duties, as directed by their direct supervisor and in accordance with the competence level assigned. The Broadcast Technician is responsible for the use/operation, movement and storage of all broadcast, camera and video equipment used for television shows and during the course of activities organized by Entertainment Department staff and as directed by the shore-based Head Office and their direct supervisor.
Area of responsibility

The Broadcast Technician is responsible for the use/operation, movement and storage of all broadcast, camera and video equipment used for television shows and during the course of activities organised by Entertainment Department staff and as directed by the shore-based Head Office and their direct supervisor.
The Company expects each shipboard employee to consistently exemplify the ship product philosophy principles to all team members. Furthermore, all duties and responsibilities must be performed as per ISM/ISO and SQM standards, USPH guidelines, and environmental, hygiene, and safety policies.
On-board employees may also be required to perform service functions at any of the various service venues throughout the ship.
Fulfilling guest service duties for passengers (“Side Duties”) is part of every crew members duty. This pertains in particular, but not exclusively, to guiding or welcoming passengers on occasions such as embarkation days, tendering, passport controls, holidays and so on.
Employees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This applies to physical and verbal interaction with guests or fellow crew members in any area where such interaction could arise.
Scope of duties 
Responsibility for the operation and handling of all entertainment broadcast technology as well as the entertainment camera equipment including mobile camera light and video equipment outside of Theatre.
Taking charge of and managing all entertainment broadcast, camera and video equipment (according to the inventory).
Handing over all entertainment broadcast, camera and video equipment (according to the inventory) to your successor at the end of your contract.
Filming, mixing and broadcasting of daily live TV shows including preparation and postproduction.
Shooting TV clips and other filming needs for ship or shore side including post and preproduction.
Live broadcasting of on-board events to on-board television and recording of these for the archive.
Providing technical support for onboard film broadcasts and screenings.
Ensuring the functionality of all systems in the area of SAT reception, onboard TV and background music.
Checking the correct assignment of TV programs and making adjustments in the event of SAT changes or when announced by the supervisor.
Managing content and ensuring smooth operation of video on demand systems for guests and crew.
Controlling and providing sports broadcasts to on-board TV and public screens.
Technical support for the content of the public screens.
Setting up, playing and managing background music playlists in all guest areas of the ship in compliance with content requirements. (Dreams System)
Checking and, if necessary, correcting time changes on all appropriate equipment and systems when changing time zones.
Updating the route map for each cruise.
Taking care of all projectors in entertainment areas with assistance from Mobile Sound Technician.
Creating or updating the Handover Documentation for the replacement and providing a detailed introduction of the successor to the work area.
Ensuring that equipment including all Entertainment cameras as well as the bow- and pool-cam is properly maintained and that all parts of your work area are kept clean and tidy.
Creating and updating inventory lists.
Ensuring that equipment is stored securely in a locked area after use.
Reporting any defects to the supervisor, active and structured error analysis and determining required repair work with the supervisor and on the instruction of the Travel TL as well as the Entertainment Technology Department Head Office. (No authorisation to carry out arbitrary repair work or modifications to electrical or electronic components).
Qualification/Work Experience
Completed specialist training in media / systems engineering or camera / media design.
Experience with professional video and broadcast technology.
Experience filming with live and EB camera and camera technology.
Experience with video mixing and video editing/postproduction (FinalCut Pro / Adobe Premiere Pro).
Good network and video server skills.
Basic knowledge in setting up interview and scene lighting for video shoots and in using audio systems and microphones for camera technology.
Experience with satellite systems and downlinks desirable.
Good knowledge of German advantageous.
Very good knowledge of English mandatory.
Basic knowledge in the use of PC Office Software.
